Fayette, Mo. – The Central Methodist University men's soccer team fell Saturday evening in their Heart of America Athletic Conference opener to Graceland University, by a final of 1-0 at Davis Field.

With the loss, Central Methodist falls to 4-2-1 overall and 0-1 in The Heart. With the win, Graceland University improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in The Heart.

It was a scoreless, fast paced game on Saturday evening, as Graceland and CMU opened their 2016 conference season. After some physical back-and-forth play, the Graceland offense was able to break through in the 31st minute, when Lamin Ceesay found Ryan Schlom for the game's first goal. That goal would end up being the game-winning tally, as Graceland defeated CMU 1-0.

In the loss, Central Methodist outshot Graceland University 13-4, and attempted seven more corner kicks. David Hillman led the Eagles with four shots overall, two were on goal.

Cameron Metcalfe (SO/Durham, England) played all 90 minutes for the Eagles between the pipes, finishing with one save on two shots on goal.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround, as they host Avila University on Tuesday at 7:30pm at Davis Field. The Eagle women will precede the men at 5pm.
