FAYETTE, Mo. – The Central Methodist men's soccer team dominated (RV) Hannibal LaGrange on Saturday night in a 5-0 victory.
NOTES
• Jackson Darnell (JR/Margaret River, Australia) tallied his first goal of the season and his 11th as an Eagle.
• Kassio Atila (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored two goals in the match, which were also his first of the season.
• The Trojans entered the match receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll.
• For the third game in a row, the Eagles have yet to allow a goal.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Darnell took two shots on goal, converting one for his first goal of the season.
• Atila netted his first two goals of the season in the 18th and 84th minute of the match.
• Leonardo Ferri (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) recorded eight shots with one goal on the night.
• Guzman Pery also recorded a goal for the Eagles.
• Santiago Diaz, Sebastian Espino, and Iker Guitierrez each tallied a shot against the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 18th minute of the match, Atila put the ball in the back of the net, from a corner kick by Pery to give Central Methodist an early 1-0 lead.
• Seven minutes later, Pery put Central Methodist up by two with a goal of his own.
• Hannibal-LaGrange took their first shot of the night with eight minutes left to go in the half, off a shot by Gutierrez that missed high.
• Darnell kicked in his first goal of the season, out beyond the 30 yard line, that hit the top right corner of the net in the 48th minute.
• Two minutes later Gutierrez crossed a ball to Ferri, who finished the cross with a goal from within the box to give Central Methodist a 4-0 advantage.
• Atila scored his second goal in the 87th minute to give the 5-0 decision to Central Methodist.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Eagles recorded 21 shots in the match, with 10 of them being on goal.
• The Trojans only tallied three shots in the 90 minute time frame.
• The Eagles held an advantage over the Trojans in corner kicks, 6-2.
