Men's Soccer Overpowers Evangel in Road Contest

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's soccer team defeated Evangel 2-0 on the road Tuesday afternoon for a sixth consecutive shutout victory.

NOTES
• Central Methodist improved to 6-1 on the year, and 2-0 in conference play.
• The Eagles have not conceded a goal since the season opener against Columbia College on August 24th.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Paulo Vac (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) added his third goal of the season in the match.
Guzman Pery (FR/Madrid, Spain) tallied two assists in the game to bring his season total to four.
Leonardo Ferri (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) added the final goal for the Eagles, and currently leads the team with four.
• John De La Torre paced the Crusaders with three of the five shots taken by the team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Evangel looked to jump ahead nearly a minute into the match, however a shot went wide from De La Torre.
• Four minutes later, Central Methodist added its first shot on goal from Gutierrez that required a save from Dinwiddie.
• Nine minutes before the half, Pery found Vac to give Central Methodist a 1-0 lead just before the half.
• The second half of the match was controlled by Central Methodist, as the Eagles rang off 12 shots, while Evangel was unable to break through the defense for a chance at goal.
• In the 86th minute of the match, Pery tallied his second assist of the match on a goal from Ferri to give Central Methodist the 2-0 advantage.
• Central Methodist held strong to preserve the 2-0 shutout victory over Evangel.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Eagles totaled 18 shots with 12 on goal during the match.
• The Crusaders managed five shots with two on frame.
• The Eagles held the advantage in corner kicks over the Crusaders 8-1.

• The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, September 23rd, when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and continue Heart play against Mount Mercy University. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
