KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Five Central Methodist University men's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2019 NAIA Men's Soccer All-America teams after another successful season.
It's the second straight season that five Eagles were named All-Americans. Central Methodist men's soccer now boasts 13 All-Americans in its history.
Daniel Hernandez and Vince Gelei were both named First-Team for the second straight season. Hernandez scored 17 goals and registered 11 assists this season. In just two seasons with the Eagles, Hernandez has scored 37 goals, setting a new school-record.
Gelei surrendered just .590 goals/game and recorded 11 shutouts. He added to his schools records for goalkeeper shutouts and goalkeeper wins with 34 and 51, respectively.
Marcos German also found himself on the First Team. The left-footer picked up eight goals and tied a school-record with 16 assists. He also anchored a back line that surrenderd just 17 goals all season.
Rodrigo Paredes and Alberto Pangrazzi were honored as Second-Team All-Americans for the first time in their careers. Paredes scored 12 goals and three assists while manning the midfield for the Eagles. Pangrazzi broke the school-record for goals with 23 and also had five assists.
The Eagles finished the season as national champions for the second straight season and became the first team since Lindsey Wilson in 2001 to win back-to-back titles.
