Fayette, Mo. - The No. 3 Central Methodist men's soccer team secured a 2-0 shut out over Graceland University Saturday night at Davis Field.
The Eagles improve to 5-0-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play. Graceland falls to 4-3-2 and 1-2-1 in the Heart.
CMU began the match with strong offensive pace, as Jesse Bank fired off a shot just 2:23 in the first half. In the 14th minute Stefano Campisi scored his first goal of 2022 to give Central a 1-0 lead.
Central's offensive attack rolled in the first half, firing off 18 total shots.
The offensive effort of CMU did not end with the half. In the second half of play Vitor Antelo continued the strong play by Central, assisting Jeremiah Johnson on a goal in the 59th minute of play. The score pushed the Eagles lead to 2-0 and was Johnson's second score of 2022.
CMU totaled 30 shots with 10 shots on goal throughout the matchup, while Graceland tallied just six shots and three on goal. Twelve Eagles were able to contribute shots throughout the contest, led by Vitor Antelo who recorded five and Bank three.
In addition, Mark Csongradi, Kevin Rivera, Alvaro Perojo, and Cian Halpin all finished the evening with three shots.
Freshman goalkeeper Yannick Schoeni earned his first career win against the Yellowjackets, recording a clean sheet in a full 90 minutes between the posts.
Central remains at home to host the Evangel Valor Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
