Atchison, Kan. - The No. 2 Central Methodist men's soccer team earned a 4-0 shut out victory over Benedictine College Tuesday night in Atchison, Kan.
The shut out marks Central's third-straight clean sheet in conference play. CMU improves its record to 10-0-4 overall and 7-0-2 in conference play. Benedictine falls to 5-8-2 and 2-6-1 in the Heart.
Freshman forward Cian Halpin struck first in the 11th minute of play, firing off a shot just inside the 18 for the score.
Guilherme Pereira notched his first career goal less than seven minutes later on a free-kick just outside the penalty box, pushing CMU's lead to 2-0.
Central added its third goal of the half, which came via a free-kick from Campisi. Campisi sent a free ball into the box which was headed in by Liam Arthur for his fourth goal of 2022.
Jeremiah Johnson closed the scoring out just before halftime, firing a ball from Sebastian Bocaz Canales into the back of the net in 38th minute.
Central concluded the evening with 17 total shots including nine on goal. CMU held BC to just four shots with one coming on goal, including just one shot in the first 45.
Johnson and Pereira led the way with three shots apiece, including two on goal for Pereira. Halpin, Arthur, and Mark Csongradi each finished the match with two shots.
Beer De Vos and Yannick Schoeni split time in goal, as each played 45 minutes, with De Vos earning his ninth win.
The Eagles remain on the road Saturday, Sept. 22 against Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
