Baldwin City, Kan. - Behind a brace from Stefano Campisi, the No. 2 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program claimed a 5-1 victory over Heart opponent Baker University Wednesday night in Baldwin City, Kan.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 12-0-4 and 9-0-2 in conference action. Baker falls to 7-7-3 and 5-4-2 in the Heart.
Campisi put Central on the board just 60 seconds into the match, before the Wildcats matched CMU with a goal in the 16th minute. Campisi once again put Central out in front with a goal in the 31st minute, giving Central a 2-1 lead entering the half time break.
The Eagles' offense utilized second-half goals from Cian Halpin (69th), Alessandro Salvadego (85th) and Jesse Bank (89th) to secure a 5-1 victory.
Central finished the evening firing off 13 shots, with seven coming on frame, compared to seven shots and three shots on goal for Baker. Bank, Salvadego, Campisi, and Guilherme Pereira all tallied two shots while Halpin led the offensive attack with three.
Beer De Vos earned his 11th win of the year as Central's primary goalkeeper, playing all 90 minutes between the posts and picking up two saves.
The Eagles return home to host William Penn University Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1:00 p.m. Central will honor its 2022-23 senior class prior to the match as part of Senior Day festivities.
