Fayette, Mo. - The No. 1 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program won its fourth consecutive Heart Tournament title, defeating No. 7 William Penn 4-0 Saturday night at Davis Field.
Central improves its overall record to 15-0-5 while the Statesmen move to 11-6-3.
In addition, the Eagles become the first program in the Heart to win four consecutive conference tournament titles since 2007.
CMU's offense rolled from start to finish, finishing the evening with 14 shots and eight on goal. The Statesmen managed just one shot and one shot on goal.
Liam Arthur got the scoring started for Central on a put back goal in just the 10th minute of play, his eighth of the year. Guilherme Pereira pushed CMU's lead to 2-0 on a break away counter attack in the 22nd minute.
Mark Csongradi added Central's third goal less than 90 seconds into the second half. Jesse Bank put the finishing touches on the match with his sixth goal of 2022 in the 61st minute of play.
Arthur led the way with four shots and two on goal, while Bank recorded three shots and two on goal. Altogether, nine different Eagles recorded at least one shot.
Beer De Vos earned his 11th win of the year, playing the first 45 minutes between the posts. Yannick Schoeni came in relief in the second half, recording one save through the final 45.
