Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer team defeated NCAA Division II opponent Lincoln University by a score of 2-0 Sunday night at Davis Field.
Central improves its overall record to 3-0 with the victory against the Blue Tigers.
CMU opened the scoring in the 42nd minute of the first half, as Ilhan Dervisevic sent a cross into the box that found the foot of Alvin Brämhagen. Brämhagen tapped the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the year, giving Central a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.
The Eagles scored their second goal following a foul on Martin O'Toole inside the box, which resulted in a penalty kick. Senior Guilherme Pereira converted the PK for his third goal of the year.
Central's defense held Lincoln to just two shots in the second half, while Niccolo Cabras recorded a clean sheet in goal. The sophomore picked up four saves in a full 90 minutes between the posts.
The Eagles return to NAIA action when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to face Harris-Stowe on Wednesday, September 4th at 3:00 p.m.
