Eagles Shut Out Grand View in Heart Opener

Eagles Shut Out Grand View in Heart Opener

Des Moines, Iowa - The (RV) Central Methodist Men's Soccer team continued their strong start to the season with a 4-0 shut out over Grand View in the Heart of America Conference opener Saturday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa.

Central Methodist took an early lead with Martin O'Toole scoring his first goal of the season in the 13th minute.

Despite Grand View's more aggressive play, finishing the half with eight shots compared to the Eagles' four, it was the away side that held a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Central extended their lead just four minutes after the break with Matheus Storck finding the back of the net for the fourth time this season.

Guilherme Pereira, who assisted Storck on the previous goal, recorded his second assist of the match just eight minutes later as Koen Schimmel extended Central's lead to 3-0.

Schimmel completed a brace with his second goal of the match, completing a 4-0 win for the Eagles.

Central Methodist's defense, led by goalkeeper Niccolo Cabras, secured their fifth clean sheet of the season including their third straight.

With the win, the Eagles remain unbeaten at 7-0 and are 1-0 in Heart play. CMU will next face No. 11 Missouri Valley Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.
