Fulton, Mo. - It was a thrilling non-conference matchup Thursday night in Fulton, Missouri between No. 22 Central Methodist and (RV) William Woods.
A full 90 minutes was not enough to separate both sides on the scoreboard, as the match concluded in a 2-2 draw.
The Eagles now sit at 9-2-2, while the Owls move to 6-2-5 on the season.
Central Methodist showcased a first half lead, with Guilherme Pereira netting both of the Eagles' goals.
The first came in the 25th minute, when Pereira found the back of the net unassisted, giving CMU a 1-0 lead. Just before halftime, the Brazilian doubled the advantage, finishing off a well-timed assist from Antoine Hurel in the 43rd minute.
However, the Owls rallied in the second half. Pedro Salmon emerged as a key player for William Woods, scoring twice in a quick span.
His first goal came in the 82nd minute, bringing the Owls within one. With the match just seconds away from finalizing, the Spaniard struck again in the 89th minute, leveling the score at 2-2 and stunning the away side of the Eagles.
Central Methodist outshot William Woods 13-8, but the Owls' defensive effort in the second half, combined with goalkeeper Wil Rieves' four saves, kept the game competitive.
For CMU, Niccolo Cabras finished the match with five saves, showcasing his abilities in between the posts despite the late surge from the home side
The Eagles will return to conference play Saturday, Oct. 12, traveling to Canton, Missouri, to face the Culver-Stockton Wildcats.
