Three Eagles Earn Heart All-Conference Honors

Three Eagles Earn Heart All-Conference Honors

Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer team earned three Heart All-Conference selections, which were announced by the conference office Wednesday.

The duo of Basil Erne and Niccolo Cabras were named to the second team, while Guilherme Pereira earned third teams honors.

Erne, a native of Uetikon am See, Switzerland, concludes his career as a four-time Heart All-Conference selection. After playing primarily as a defender in his previous three seasons, Erne transitioned to a midfield role, playing in 18 games with 17 starts in 2024. He dished out a pair of assists in wins over Harris-Stowe State and Hannibal-LaGrange in early September. He finishes his collegiate career as a two-time Heart Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champion, and an NAIA All-American during his freshman season in 2021.

Cabras recieved Second Team All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. The Italian native started in all 18 matches between the posts, giving up less than one goal per match. Additionally, Cabras posted on average four saves/match and finished the regular season with an impressive .811 save percentage, which included a .806 percentage in conference.

Pereira notched a team-leading seven goals and tied for the team lead with four assists in his final season. He started all but one match for the Eagles and recorded a brace against William Woods, the lone match he did not start. Pereira also tallied a season-high two assists against Grand View on Sept. 14. The All-Conference honors are the first Pereira in his career.

As a team, Central finished the year with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-6-2 record in Heart of America play.
