Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer program secured its second consecutive win with a 3-0 shut out over Central Baptist College Tuesday afternoon at Davis Field.
CMU improves to 2-1-1 while CBC drops to 0-1-0.
Despite Central outshooting the Mustangs' 10-3 in the first half, neither side was able to find the back of the net. The match remained scoreless at the halftime break.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 71st minute, as Milton Olin sent a cross into the box near the end line to the feet of Alvin Brämhagen. Brämhagen took a single touch that found the back of the net for the score, putting CMU up 1-0.
Less than four minutes later, a corner kick from Brämhagen was sent into the box and tapped in by Matteo Giora to extend CMU's lead to 2-0.
The final goal of the match came with five minutes left in regulation.
Rimon Beyene sent a pass 50 yards up field to Brämhagen. Brämhagen then found Robin Vandewalle on the left for the tap-in goal.
Central finished the match with 20 total shots including 11 on frame. The Eagles' defense held CBC to just six shots, and three shots on goal.
CMU had a balanced offensive attack, as 10 different Eagles recorded at least one shot.
Niccolo Cabras earned his second win of the year in goal, playing all 90 minutes and picking up three saves.
Central will open up Heart of America Conference play against William Woods University Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
