St. Louis, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist men's wrestling program began their tournament slate Saturday morning, competing in the Kaufman-Brand Open hosted by Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo. 

The open featured 31 different schools comprised of NCAA Division I, II, NJCAA and NAIA institutions. 2021 NAIA National qualifier Brenden Shelton posted a second place finish in the Elite 285-pound weight class. 

After receiving a first-round bye, Shelton knocked off Brooks Baker of Missouri Valley College by a 4-0 Decision in the quarterfinals, before defeating Anthony Caldwell of Fort Hays State University by Fall at 4:03 in the semis. Shelton was ultimately defeated in the championship match by Seth Nitzel of the University of Missouri, finishing the day in second place.
