Shelton qualifies for nationals as Eagles battle in Heart Conference Championships

Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Central Methodist men's wrestling team concluded the 2021-22 reagular-season at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Wrestling Championships. The Championships were hosted by William Penn University Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Eagles finished the championships in 11th place with 15.5 points. Grand View won their seventh-straight Heart title with 223.5 points, followed by Baker with 141 points and Missouri Valley 133.

Junior grappler Brenden Shelton was the highest finisher for Central, as the Colon, Mich. native placed fifth in the highly competitive 285-pound bracket with a 4-2 overall record. Sophomore grappler Justin McEnaney posted a 2-2 record in the 165 pound bracket, as did Jayden Uptegrove in the 285-pound bracket.

Devin York earned an 11-7 Decision over Graceland' Zach Choate in the consolation bracket at 197-pounds.
