Marshall, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Wrestling program made plenty of history at the MVC Invite this weekend in Marshall, Mo. 

The Invite, which is one of the largest wrestling tournaments in the country, features 53 NAIA programs, 21 ranked programs and more than 500 wrestlers.  

Central posted an 11th place finish, the best team finish at the tournament in school history. The Eagles' previous finishes were 16th in 2024 and 17th in 2023. 

CMU produced one champion and two placers, including James Griffin (1st - 157 pounds), Sincere Hall-Osbourne (3rd - 184), and Jake Henson (8th - 197). 

Griffin highlighted the meet for the Eagles, as the redshirt senior rolled through the 157 pound bracket. The native of St. Louis, Missouri posted a perfect 6-0 record, knocking off three ranked wrestlers in No. 25, No. 7 and No. 1 in the championship match. 

Altogether he outscored his opponents 40-8 and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. It is the first time an Eagle has ever earned the honor. 

Hall-Osbourne won his first four matches en route to a semifinal appearance. The graduate senior fell in a tough 4-1 decision in the semifinals and moved to the consolation side of the bracket. He responded with a 12-1 Major Decision win in the consolation semis before winning his third place match to secure a podium finish. 

After falling in his first bout of the tournament, Henson rattled off five consecutive wins to remain alive in the consolation bracket. Henson would fall in his final two matches of the weekend to secure an eighth place standing in the 197 pound bracket. 

Central will return to dual action against Heart foe (RV) Baker University Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
