Eagles Place Fourth at Heart Championships; Produce Two Individual Conference Champions

Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's Wrestling program began postseason competition with a bang, as they took on the Heart of America Conference Championships this weekend in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The nine-team tournament was hosted by William Penn University inside the Penn Activity Center over a two-day period.

Central produced two individual conference champions and a pair of runner-up finishes at the conclusion of the tournament.

As a team, the Eagles finished fourth in the standings after tallying 127.5 total points. The fourth place finish is the highest placing for the program in school history.

James Griffin (157) and Sincere Hall-Osbourne both brought home first-place finishes, while Roman Garcia (174) and Austin Foye (285) placed second in their respective weight classes.

Griffin's championship moment came in dramatic fashion, as he won gold after earning a sudden victory win over Brayden Shelton of Missouri Valley College in the title match.

Hall-Osbourne won the 184-pound bracket with a Major Decision victory over Jackson King of Dickinson State.

The duo are the first pair of individual conference champions in the program's history.

Garcia finished second after falling to Alex Reynolds of Grand View by a 4-0 Decision in the 174 championship bout.

Foye secured a second place finish after defeating Tyler Casey of St. Ambrose in the 285 pound true second place match.

Jake Henson (5th - 197), Arojae Hart (6th - 133), Drake Jenkins (6th - 157), Charlie Fitzgerald (7th - 141), Jacob Ruff (8th - 197), and Nevertesonne Lahens (8th - 149) all placed for the Eagles as well.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Central secured five qualifiers into this year's national championship including; Hart, Griffin, Garcia, Hall-Osbourne, and Foye.

The remaining wild card qualifiers will be announced by the national office on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
