Cedar Falls, Iowa — The No. 14 CMU Men's wrestling team faced a challenging slate on Thursday at the NWCA National Duals, squaring off against No. 6 Oklahoma City and No. 18 Corban inside the UNI-Dome.

CMU showed resilience throughout the day, earning key individual victories against two nationally ranked opponents.

Central opened the tournament against No. 6 Oklahoma City, but the Stars used bonus-point victories early to build momentum and secure a 34-6 decision.

OCU jumped out to a fast start with major and technical falls at 125 and 133 pounds. CMU answered at 141 as Arojae Hart earned an 8-1 decision over Jace Province, putting the Eagles on the board.

The Stars responded with wins at 149 and 157, including a fall at 157 to extend their lead. CMU picked up its second victory of the dual at 165, where Kevin Olavarria controlled his match for an 8-2 decision over Hayden Brown.

Oklahoma City closed strong with wins in the final four bouts, including a fall at 174, to seal the victory

Central moved to the consolation side of the bracket, where they took on No. 18 Corban. CMU built an early 12-0 lead courtesy of back-to-back forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds. 

Corban answered with back-to-back falls at 141 and 149 to swing the momentum. CMU responded at 157 as Brayden Forman delivered an 11-2 major decision over Bo Davis to keep the dual tight.

After a narrow loss at 165, Kevin Olavarria continued his strong day with a 7-6 decision at 174 over Armando Nicacio. Corban, however, secured close decisions at 184, 197, and 285 to clinch the dual, 24-19. 

The Eagles will continue dual action against Cornerstone (Mich.) Saturday morning.
