Central Triumphant on Senior Night vs. William Woods

Fayette, Mo. - No. 14 CMU Men's Wrestling capped Senior Night with a commanding 35–14 victory over William Woods Wednesday evening, delivering bonus points in six bouts and celebrating its seniors in style.

Prior to the dual, Central celebrated the following senior athletes and managers; Kayla Karpe, Miah Contreras, Gavin Shoush, Alex Walker, Peyton Asbury, and Arojae Hart.

The Eagles set the tone early at 125 pounds as Luis Acevedo earned a dominant 16–1 technical fall over Emanual Trotter. After William Woods answered at 133 with a fall from Braden Werdehausen, CMU regained control behind No. 25 Hart, who posted a 19–3 technical fall win at 141 pounds.

No. 19 Walker followed with a 15–5 major decision at 149, and Asbury edged Whit Nichols 4–3 at 157 to extend the Eagles' lead. A forfeit at 165 gave No. 12 Eric Hodge a victory and valuable team points.

William Woods picked up wins at 174 and 184, but Central responded emphatically down the stretch. No. 17 Cameron Cornman secured a fall at 197 (3:52), and heavyweight Garine Gibson closed the night with a pin at 285 in 2:38, firing up the home crowd.

CMU will next take part in the UCM Open Sunday, Jan. 18 in Warrensburg, Missouri. Wrestling is set to start at 9:00 a.m.
