Fayette, Mo. – The Central Methodist Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the promotion of Graham Karwath to Director of Wrestling at Central Methodist.
Coach Karwath will continue to serve as head coach of the men's program while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of both the men's and women's programs.
Additionally, assistant coach Jonathan Parrilla has been promoted to head assistant coach.
"This announcement is a testament to the success we have experienced under Coach Karwath's leadership," stated Director of Athletics Jeff Sherman. "I'm very proud of both wrestling programs, and this announcement with Graham Karthwath's leadership as Director of Wrestling will assure that this standard of excellence will continue."
Since arriving at Central in May 2023, Karwath has taken the men's program to new heights. In his first three seasons, he has coached 18 national qualifiers, 11 Heart All-Conference selections, three conference champions, and seven NAIA All-Americans, including a pair of national runner-up finishes in 2025.
As a team, Central has seen steady improvement in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, the most competitive conference in the country for men's wrestling. The Eagles posted their first podium finish at this year's championships, taking third after placing fourth in 2025 and sixth in 2024.
Additionally, the Eagles have made a splash on the national stage, finishing 20th or better in each of the past three national tournaments. Central's best finish came in 2025, when the Eagles placed 10th in the country.
"I'm truly grateful to be trusted with the role of Director of Wrestling at Central Methodist University," stated Karwath. "The vision that President Drake, Chad Gaines, and Jeff Sherman have for the university and our athletic department makes me excited for what's ahead. We're building something special, and I'm proud to be part of it. I'm also excited to continue working alongside Jonathan Parrilla in his new role as Head Assistant Coach, and to support Coach Prescott, Coach Knighton, and our women's program, however I can."
Karwath will begin his new duties on May 1.
