FAYETTE, Mo. - Brennan Cape has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Central Methodist University men's cross country team for the 2013-14 season, coach Chris Sandefur announced Friday.

"I chose CMU because I believe they are on the brink of something great," Cape said. "I have always wanted to be a part of a good, competitive team."

Cape attends Steelville High School in Steelville, Mo. He placed 18th in the 2012 Missouri Class 2A Cross Country State Championship in a time of 17:53. For the effort, Cape was named an all-state performer.

"Brennan is a very driven individual," Sandefur noted. "He takes his academics very seriously.� Brennan has all the tools to be very successful at CMU academically and athletically.� He will be a key contributor to the success of our program in the near future."

The Central Methodist men's cross country team finished fourth in this year's Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship meet in November.
