Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist men's and women's cross country programs opened the fall season at the Maple Leaf Invitational, hosted by Baker University Saturday morning.
The men placed fourth out of five programs while the women finished fifth. Other teams competing in the invitational included; Benedictine College, host Baker, Columbia College, and Rockhurst.
On the men's side, senior Radovan Kemboi posted a Top-10 finish, placing ninth with a final time of 16:53.60 in the 5K. Fellow senior Graham Lemmons ran a final time of 17:40.30 for a 17th place standing.
Ely Yoseph, Zy'Shonne Cowans, and Grant Engel rounded out the top five runners for CMU, posting 41st, 45th, and 46th place finish respectively.
In the women's 4K, junior Katherine Bangert was the highest finisher for Central, running a final time of 16:09.76 for ninth place.
Fellow junior Madeline Wieseman posted a time of 16:33.10, good for a top 20 finish at 18th. Katelyn Moeller, Claire Sykes, and Isabella Ross placed 46th, 47th, and 48th respectively.
Central will next compete in the Columbia College Invite Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. in Columbia, Mo.
