Fayette, Mo. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced on Friday their 2016 Softball All-American Selections. Among the honorees, was Central Methodist University first baseman Lauren Geringer (O'Fallon, Mo.). Geringer was named as a First Team All-American by the NFCA, and a Second Team All-American by the NAIA.
"This is well deserved for Lauren (Geringer)," said CMU head softball coach Pat Reardon. "She has put in countless hours with our hitting coaches and improved every year. Her numbers speak for themselves, but what is not told in the numbers is her commitment to leadership and taking on that role this year along with Jessie (Wilmes)."
Senior Lauren Geringer closed out her final collegiate season with a bang in 2016. Geringer finished second in the Nation with 22 homeruns, and sixth in the Nation with 71 RBI's. Overall Geringer hit .330, with an on-base percentage of .424, and a .747 slugging percentage. She led the team with 56 runs scored, Geringer finished second on the team with 15 doubles, and finished third on the team with 64 hits.
Following graduation this past May, Geringer committed to staying at Central Methodist as a graduate assistant coach on Pat Reardon's staff. Geringer finished her four year playing career at CMU, with a career batting average of .337, with 63 homeruns and 220 RBI's. Geringer racked up 217 hits, 49 doubles, one triple, and scored 188 runs. She also drew 107 walks and stole two bases.
"I am excited to have Lauren (Geringer) back with us next year, as she will be a great addition to our staff," said Reardon.
