OSKALOOSA, Iowa. – The Central Methodist University women's golf team finished the opening round of the 2017 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship in ninth place, shooting a 94-over-par 378. CMU's Hannah Clark (SR/Kansas City, Kan.) is currently tied for 20th place in the medalist competition with a 15-over-par 86 at Edmundson Golf Course.
William Penn University leads the team competition, shooting a 20-over-par 304. The Statesmen lead Grand View University by 23 strokes, as the Vikings posted a 43-over-par 327 heading into the final round. Baker University is in third, 35 strokes behind WPU with a score of 339. Mount Mercy University is in fourth place with a 344, while Peru State College shot a 346.
Helene Larsen of William Penn leads the medalist competition with an even-par 71. She leads Kimberly Nelson of Grand View (73) by two strokes. Maria Mantilla of Grand View and Lucy Clark of Culver-Stockton are tied for third place with identical 5-over-par 76 scores. Miranda Keefer of William Penn rounds out the top five with a 6-over-par 77.
Central Methodist's Jamie Gisburne (SR/Arlington, Tex.) shot a 16-over-par 87 and is tied for 23rd place. Alex Fjeseth (JR/Nixa, Mo.) is in 46th place with a 102, Alexis Hagemeyer is in 47th place with a 103 and Devin Henderson (FR/Branson, Mo.) posted a 106 to put her in 49th place.
The final round of the tourney will take place on Tuesday.
