Fremont Hills, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's and women's golf programs have begun spring competition, competing in the opening round of the Evangel Spring Invite, hosted by Evangel University Monday morning in Fremont Hills, Mo.

Other teams participating in the invite include; Kansas Wesleyan, Evangel, Dordt, Kirkwood Communicty College, Kansas City Kansas Community College, College of the Ozarks, Westminster, Graceland, Crowley Ridge and Doane.

On the women's side, Freshman Cassandra Contreras holds a three stroke lead over the rest of the field, firing a single round total of 83.

Alea Andrade currently sits in a three-way tie for 16th place, while Bailey Stefanski is tied for 23rd. Rounding out the top five Eagles for Central are Lauren Duvall and Ashley Ritter. As a team, the women currently sit in fourth place.

For the men, the top spot is also occupied by an Eagle, as junior Matias Baccola leads the pack with a single round total of 71. Freshman Aaron Teece earned a Top-5 spot after firing a one round total of 77.

Nzelu Maitha is currently tied for sixth (78), followed by a 16th place standing for Tiago Swart and a 21st ranking for Trace Brown.

The Eagles will conclude the invite tomorrow morning, with a shotgun start set for 10:00 a.m. in Nixa, Mo.
