No. 8 Central pushes win streak to six with shut out of MNU

Olathe, Kan. - Behind two second half goals, the No. 8 Central Methodist women's soccer team pushed its week streak to six matches with a 3-0 shut out over MidAmerica Nazarene University Tuesday night in Olathe, Kan.

With the victory, Central improves to 9-1 and 6-0 in the Heart, while the Pioneers fall to 2-7-1 and 2-3-1 in conference play.

The Eagles quickly moved into the attacking third and just 40 seconds into the match, Marcella Helena tapped in a ball off a deflection into the box to give CMU an early 1-0 lead.

Central wouldn't score again until the 58th minute of play, as Laura Riesenbeck notched her second goal of the season to push CMU's lead to 2-0. The third and final goal of the match came less than a minute later, as Kitti Torok recorded her second goal of the season.

The Eagles concluded the afternoon tallying 22 total shots and 14 coming on goal, while the defense held MNU to just four shots and one on goal.

Helena led the offense with five total shots including three on goal, followed by Roneisha Frank who tallied four shots with three coming on goal along with two assists. The duo of Riesenbeck and Alicia Zamora each collected three shots.

Grace Reynolds started her third straight match, playing all 90 minutes between the posts and picking up one save.
