Jessen earns first Heart Defensive Player of the Week honor

Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time in her career, CMU Women's Soccer senior midfielder Zoe Jessen was tabbed as the Heart Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.

Jessen is third Eagle to earn Heart Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, joining teammates Alicia Zamora and Laura Riesenbeck.

The League City, Texas native anchored the defensive backline to its fifth and sixth consecutive shut outs this past week, including a 3-0 win over Grand View and a 5-0 victory at Graceland. Jessen also picked up a goal in the win over the Vikings Wednesday.

The Eagles will next host longtime rival Missouri Valley College Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field. The game serves as a rematch of last year's Heart Tournament Championship game, as both sides are currently 1-2 in the conference standings.
