Kansas City, Mo. - Sophomore defender Alicia Zamora was once again recognized as the Heart Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.
This marks the second time Zamora has earned the honor, as she also won the award back on Sept. 6. The Valladolid, Spain native helped lead the Eagles to their seventh and eighth consecutive shut outs this past week.
Zamora and CMU held No. 17 Missouri Valley to only five shot attempts and held Clarke to one shot in their match Saturday. The Central defense has recorded eight consecutive shut outs, having last given up a goal against the Evangel Valor on Sept. 22 in Springfield, Mo. Overall, CMU, has outscored their opponents 62-2 through 15 games so far this season.
Central has already captured the 2021 Heart of America Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship outright with the 3-0 victory over Clarke.
The Eagles will next face No. 9 Oklahoma Wesleyan Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Overland Park, Kan.
