Big First Half Propels No. 7 Eagles Past Yellowjackets

Big First Half Propels No. 7 Eagles Past Yellowjackets

Fayette, Mo. - Following three first half goals, the No. 7 Central Methodist Women's Soccer program cruised past Graceland University, 3-0 Saturday evening at Davis Field.

The Eagles move to 7-2-1 overall, and 3-0-1 in Heart play. The Yellojackets drop to 1-6-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the conference.

Central's offense entered the first half firing on all cylinders, as Roneisha Frank scored just six minutes into the contest. Frank assisted on CMU's second goal of the match, finding Celine Witt in wide open space for a one-on-one matchup against Graceland's keeper. Witt was able to slip the ball past to push CMU's lead to 2-0 in the 15th minute of play.

The final goal of the match came via Sandra Jakobsen, who put the ball in the back of the net after a corner kick that landed inside the box at the 27 minute mark.

Central entered the halftime break with a 3-0 lead, and maintained that lead for the rest of the contest, earning their fourth shut out of 2022.

The Eagles' offense cruised throughout the match, firing off 26 total shots including 10 on goal. Graceland managed just one shot. Frank led the offensive charge with six shots taken and two on goal. Jakobsen and Witt each tallied four shots. Overall, 12 different Eagles recorded at least one shot in the match.

Judit Gonzalez Oliveras earned her fourth win of the year as Central's starting keeper. Max De Armas Colombo also saw action between the posts in the remaining moments of the match.

Central remains at home to host Evangel University Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field
