Barreto Earns Heart Offensive Player of the Week Honors for Second Time

Kansas City, Mo. - For the second time in 2024, Central Methodist sophomore forward Mariana Barreto has been named the Heart of America Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

The native of Valencia, Venezuela led the No. 7 Eagles to a 5-1 victory over William Penn University this past Saturday at Davis Field. She recorded her third hat trick of the year against the Statesmen, with all three goals coming in the second half.

She attempted seven total shots, with five of them coming on frame. In just 10 games this season, Barreto has tallied 14 goals, including five game-winners.

Central is currently 13-1-1 and 8-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

CMU will next travel to Atchison, Kansas to face Benedictine College on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 5:00 p.m.
