Kansas City, Mo. - Highlighting an incredible week of play, Central Methodist junior forward Mariana Barreto was recognized as the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the NAIA office this week.
This comes off the heels of Barreto being named the Heart Offensive Player of the Week Monday.
She is only the second ever Eagle to earn national honors in program history. The first was Andrea Villar during the 2021 season.
In two matches last week, the native of Valencia, Venezuela, scored five goals and dished out three assists as the Eagles went a perfect 2-0 against Briar Cliff and William Woods.
Against the Chargers last Wednesday, Barreto netted her first hat trick of the year to lead Central to a 4-1 win in Sioux City.
She followed that up with a brace and a pair of assists in a 6-1 victory over William Woods Saturday.
Barreto leads the Eagles with six goals and three assists so far this season.
The Eagles are currently 4-1-1 and 2-0 in the Heart of America. Central will next take on William Penn University Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11:00 a.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
