Kansas City, Mo. - Coming off an incredible week of play, Central Methodist junior Nerea Munoz was named the Heart of America Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.
This marks the first weekly honor for Munoz and the second straight week the program has earned recognition. Mariana Barreto was named both the Heart and National Offensive Player of the Week last week.
Munoz led the Eagles to a 2-0 record, including an upset win over No. 13 MidAmerica Nazarene on the road on Sept. 10. The native of Madrid, Spain, recorded a brace against the Pioneers, highlighted by the game-winning goal on a free kick with three seconds remaining.
CMU is now 5-1-2 and 3-0-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Central travels to Dubuque, Iowa, to take on the Clarke University Pride Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1:00 p.m.
