Barreto Tabbed as Heart Offensive Player of the Week for Second Time

Barreto Tabbed as Heart Offensive Player of the Week for Second Time

Kansas City, Mo. - For the second time this season, Central Methodist junior forward Mariana Barreto was named the Heart of America Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.

She was previously named Heart Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8.

The native of Valencia, Venezuela, led the Eagles to a 1-0-1 record this last week, including a 2-2 tie against No. 6 Missouri Valley College last Wednesday. Against the Vikings, she converted a penalty kick to tie the game in the first half.

She followed that up with her second hat trick of the year on Saturday against the Pride.

Altogether, she finished the week with four goals scored.

The Eagles are now 6-1-2 and 4-0-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

CMU will next host Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
