Barreto Named Heart Offensive Player of the Week for Third Time

Barreto Named Heart Offensive Player of the Week for Third Time

Kansas City, Mo. - For the third time this season, Central Methodist junior forward Mariana Barreto was named the Heart of America Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office Monday.

It also marks the fourth consecutive week the Eagles have had a player earn the recognition. Barreto was previously recognized on Sept. 22 and Sept. 8 as was Nerea Munoz on Sept. 15.

The native of Valencia, Venezuela led the No. 18 Eagles to two more wins, including victories over Missouri Baptist and Culver-Stockton. Barreto recorded a brace in each match to bring her season goal total to 14, which leads the Eagles.

Central is now 8-1-2 and 6-0-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. CMU will next take on Grand View University Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
