The Lady Eagles dominated the match to earn the three-set win and earn their eighth win of the season. Thursday's win was CMU's third in its last four matches, and gave the Lady Eagles a 2-1 advantage in their three matches against Stephens this season.
Sophomore Makenzie Shepard (Leavenworth, Kan.) and senior Taylor Reed (Toledo, Ohio) led CMU with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Junior Sarah Lewey (Kansas City, Mo.) dished out 45 assists. Sophomore Jennifer Garrett (Higginsville, Mo.) had a team-high 15 digs, and senior Melanie Touchette (Millstadt, Ill.) added 13 digs and three ace serves for the Lady Eagles.
Central Methodist improved to 8-18 overall with the win, while Stephens dropped to 11-18 on the season with the loss. The Lady Eagles will have the weekend off before returning to action with their final regular-season Heart of America Athletic Conference match Tuesday against Evangel University. Central Methodist will honor the team's seniors prior to Tuesday's 7 p.m. match against the Crusaders at Puckett Field House.
