POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The Central Methodist University volleyball team lost two matches Friday on the first day of the Mazzio's Tournament hosted by College of the Ozarks. The Eagles fell to McPherson University and John Brown University.
Central Methodist lost in four games to McPherson by scores of 18-25, 25-19, 15-25 and 17-25. Middle hitter Julia Weber led the Eagle attack with�nine kills and one�block. Middle hitter Allie Slaton totaled�five kills and four blocks. Kristi Miller came up with 10 digs and�one service ace from her defensive specialist position. Setter Sarah Lewey dished out 16 assists,�two service�aces and six�digs. Setter Kylie Melkersman recorded 14 assists,�eight digs and�two service aces.
The Eagles lost to John Brown in three games by scores of 14-25, 8-25 and 15-25. Outside hitter Makenzie Shepard scored�five kills. Jennifer Garrett, a defensive specialist, totaled�six digs. Lewey registered�nine assists, while Weber�had four blocks.
Central Methodist will take on Ottawa University and College of the Ozarks on Saturday, the final day of the Mazzio's Tournament. First serve against Ottawa is set for 11 a.m CT. The match versus the tournament host is scheduled for 3 p.m.
