Volleyball splits two matches Friday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Methodist University volleyball setter Sarah Lewey sparked the first win for the Eagles (1-6) on Friday. Central Methodist defeated Bacone College in four games but lost to Northwestern College in three games on the first day of Avila University's Eagle Invitational.

In the first match of the day, Central Methodist lost to Bacone by scores of 21-25, 11-25 and 14-25. Outside hitter Makenzie Shepard tallied six kills for the Green and Black. Lewey dished out 12 assists. Jennifer Garrett came up with eight digs from her defensive specialist position. Middle hitters Julia Weber and Allie Slaton had two blocks apiece.

The Eagles defeated Bacone by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 26-24 and 25-13. Lewey recorded 13 assists, seven digs and six service aces. Setter Kylie Melkersman had 12 assists.� Outside hitter Dana Peters had nine kills. Garrett and defensive specialist Kristi Miller each had 10 digs. Defensive specialist Hannah Babcock recorded eight digs. Weber netted four kills and four blocks.


Central Methodist will battle Stephens College on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT before taking on University of Saint Mary at 3 p.m. to conclude the Eagle Invitational.
