Volleyball wins two matches Saturday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Central Methodist University volleyball team swept two matches Saturday to conclude the final day of Avila's Eagle Invitational. Central Methodist (3-6) defeated Stephens College and the University of Saint Mary to post a 3-1 record in the two-day tournament and is riding a three-game win streak.

The Eagles defeated Stephens in four games by scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-21 and 25-15. Setter Sarah Lewey dished out 13 assists and three service aces. Defensive specialist Kristi Miller tallied 13 digs. Middle hitter Julia Weber led the defense with six blocks.

The Green and Black dropped Saint Mary in three games by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-22. Lewey had 16 assists, seven digs, and three service aces. Setter Kylie Melkersman sent out 15 assists. Weber recorded seven blocks. Outside hitter Makenzie Shepard came up with 10 kills, while middle hitter Allie Slaton had nine kills and one block.

Central Methodist will travel to Baker University on Tuesday, Sept. 11. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT.
