Fayette, Mo. The Central Methodist University volleyball team won both of their matches against Ave Maria University and Warner University in day one of the Lady Royals Labor Day Classic, hosted by Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida.

With the victories, Central Methodist moves to 3-4 overall on the season.

The first match of the day saw the Eagles square off against the Gyrenes from Ave Maria University. CMU won the match going away 25-13, 25-21, and 25-18. The Lady Eagles were led by Darcy Latham with 12 kills and Madison Bond had 10 kills of her own. Madison Bond led the squad in blocks with six, while Caitlin Petty and Savvy Hughes were one and two in assists, with 20 and 15 respectively.

The second match of the day was a bit tougher for the Lady Eagles, against the hosts' Warner University. CMU won in close fashion, with finals of 30-28, 25-20, 18-25, and 25-23. Lindsay Smith finished the contest with a team high 12 kills, while Marina Alves and Darcy Latham finished with 10 kills each. Erin Dodd finished with a team high 26 digs and Savvy Hughes and Caitlin Petty finished with 20 and 19 assists respectively; which was tops for CMU in the game.

Saturday brings day two of the Lady Royals Labor Day Classic, where CMU will square off against Florida National University and Dickinson State University from North Dakota.
