BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Central Methodist volleyball team swept conference foe Baker University 3-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference match-up Tuesday night.
NOTES
• Central Methodist improves to 7-7 on the season and 4-2 in the Heart. Baker drops to 8-12 on the season and 1-7 in conference action.
• Central Methodist wins the first of two series with Baker in the 2017 season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Darcy Latham (SR/Bismark, Mo.) had match high 14 kills to go with eight digs and two service aces. Shannon Peters (FR/Waverly, Mo.) also recorded match high in assists with 36.
• Madison Bond (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) led all players with seven blocks; two block solos and five block assists.
• Olivia Brees paced Baker with 12 kills, while Jenna Sackman offensively set up her teammates for 30 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams were evenly matched in the first set. Baker managed 14 kills to go with a .250 hitting percentage. Central Methodist nailed 13 kills following a .205 hitting percentage. Central Methodist took the first set 25-22.
•At the end of set two, Central Methodist tallied on 14 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Both teams only committed one error in the set, but Central Methodist went on to win the set 25-23.
• In the third and final set, Baker struggled with a .188 hitting percentage for 11 kills and committing five errors. Central Methodist averaged a .344 hitting percentage for 12 kills with only one error, to go on and take the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Baker edged out Central Methodist in kills 40-39, however Central Methodist had a .317 hitting percentage and Baker had a .296 hitting percentage.
• Central Methodist nailed four service aces compared to the once ace by Baker.
• Central Methodist had the advantage over Baker in assists 38-31.

• The Eagles will return to action on September 29th, when they welcome no. 13 Grand View University to Fayette, Mo. and Puckett Fieldhouse. The match is schedule to start at 7:00pm.
