FAYETTE, Mo. ---- The Central Methodist volleyball team defeated Avila University at home in three sets on Friday night, and the seniors Miranda Dahman, Madison Bond and Darcy Latham were recognized for their contributions to the program.

NOTES
• Central Methodist improved to 22-10 (13-4) on the year. Avila fell to 5-27 (3-14).
• Central Methodist won in three sets, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-10.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Marija Janjusevic led the Eagles offensively with 17 kills and a .424 kill percentage.
• Petra Schaffer finished with 10 kills and a .421 kill percentage with four block assists.
• Latham also finished in double digits with 10 kills and 15 digs. Alma Flores added 14 digs, and Shannon Peters totaled 35 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Avila jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in set one.
• Central Methodist responded with a 6-2 run, after a kill from Janjusevic to bring the game to 13-12 with Avila still leading.
• Central Methodist tied the game at 17 after an attacking error from Avila. However, the Eagles finished set one on a 4-1 run to take set one 25-21 on a service ace from Sherard.
• Neither team was able to hold a significant lead early in set two, as the score was tied 6-6. A 4-0 Eagle run gave Central Methodist a 10-6 lead.
• Central Methodist held the slight advantage the remainder of the set, however Avila brought the game to within one, 24-23, after a kill from Dehn. Schaffer responded for the Eagles to give Central Methodist the 25-23 win in set two.
• Central Methodist held a 7-6 lead over Avila, before exploding on a 16-2 run to lead 23-8.
• Dahman tallied the final kill for the Eagles in set three to take the three set victory over Avila at home.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Central Methodist totaled 45 kills in the match, while Avila finished with 33.
• Central Methodist led in assists 38-30 over Avila.
• Central Methodist also held the advantage in digs, 54-59, over Avila.
• Avila tallied four block assists and one solo block for three total, as Central Methodist finished with two solo blocks and 14 assisted for nine total.

• The Eagles will return to action Saturday, October 28, when they continue Heart play, and host (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene University at 1 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
