KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The (RV) Central Methodist's volleyball team was honored by the Heart of America Athletic Conference Awards from the league office, Tuesday morning. The volleyball program earned four All-Conference team members, as well as Co-Player of the Year in Darcy Latham (SR/Bismarck, Mo.) and Freshman of the Year in Shannon Peters (FR/Waverly, Mo.).

The program finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 24-12 and 14-5 in conference action.

Latham, a native of Bismarck, Mo., has been the heart and soul of the team this past year. She led her team averaging 3.41 kills per game, which placed her second in the conference. She tallied 461 kills this year, which ranks her no. 13 in the nation, along with 442 digs. She recorded a career high with 22 kills against Clarke back in October. Latham was also named a first team All-Conference member. She also holds the school record for most kills in a career with 1462.

Peters, a native of Waverly, Mo., started off the year as the Eagles' libero, but would switch to her natural position as setter mid-season. She was named setter of the week three times this season by the conference. She recorded a career high with 65 assists in an upset win over College of the Ozarks in October. Peters was also named a second team All-Conference member.

Madison Bond (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) joined Latham as a member of the first team All-Conference honoree. She was pivotal for the Eagles at the net, recording 137 blocks, which landed her ranked no. 12 in the nation and third in the conference. Bond also bolsters the school record in career-blocks with 488.

Marija Janjusevic (JR/Belgrade, Serbia) earned Honorable-Mention All-Conference for her performance this past season. She tied her career high 17 kills against College of the Ozarks, MidAmerica Nazarene, and Avila.
