Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that 556 volleyball student- athletes have been named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team, Friday afternoon.
Among the 556 student-athletes whom were honored, Central Methodist had four athletes named to the team; Marina Alves (JR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) (3.88 GPA), Madison Bond (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) (3.85 GPA), Miranda Dahman (SR/Harrisonville, Mo.) (3.74 GPA), and Darcy Latham (SR/Bismarck, Mo.) (3.79 GPA).
"I'm very proud of our student-athletes. It is very rare to find a group of athletes that have as much of an impact in the classroom as they do on the court. Theses student-athletes have been great leaders on and off the court and have set the bar high for our underclassmen to follow," stated head coach Allison Jones-Olson, on her student-athlete's academic performance.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
