FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist University women's volleyball head coach, Coleman Lee, has announced the incoming recruiting class for the 2020 season.
Four transfers are set to join the program in the fall:
- Marina Alonso is a 5'8 junior setter from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She will join the Eagles after spending her sophomore season at Florida Southwestern State College where she earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors. She is the first volleyball player from FSSC to sign with a four-year university.
- Sydni Basler is a 5'4 junior defensive specialist from St. Genevieve, Mo. Basler has spent two seasons at Mineral Area Community College where she gathered 581 digs (2.75 per set) and helped her team to a combine 45-16 record during her time at MACC.
- Elise Hardesty-Irvin is a 5'9 redshirt junior setter from Columbia, Mo. She joins the program after spending three years at Truman State University. During her sophomore campaign, she saw action in 30 of their 31 matches while accumulating 857 assists.
- Abby Welther is a 5'9 senior outside hitter from Pleasant Hill, Mo. Welther spent the first three seasons of her career with Drury University where she played in 135 sets while helping her team finish at No. 17 in the AVCA/NCAA Division II poll in 2018. This was the highest ranking ever achieved by the women's volleyball program at Drury.
A group of thirteen true freshmen will also join the team with a number of accomplishments:
- Addison Butler is a 5'3 defensive specialist from Wentzville, Mo. She was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Holt High School where she gathered 417 digs and had a .900 passing percentage.
- Becca Cavazos is a 5'1 defensive specialist from Edinburg, Tex. The Vela High School graduate earned First Team All-District honors and was selected as a member of the West All-Start team in 2019.
- Addison Crider is a 5'9 outside hitter from Marshfield, Mo. The four-year Marshfield High varsity starter was a First Team All-Conference selection and qualified for junior nationals in sand doubles.
- Avery Hays is a 5'5 setter from Lebanon, Mo. The Lebanon High School graduated earned First Team All-Conference honors and qualified for the USA Volleyball Girls 18s Junior National Championship with her club team.
- Sarah Johnson is a 5'6 outside hitter from Jefferson City, Mo. Johnson led Calvary Lutheran High School to back-to-back appearances at the Missouri Class I State Tournament while also qualifying for State in cross country and track & field.
- Annabelle Maassen is a 5'11 outside hitter from Jefferson City, Mo. She earned All-State honors after finishing with 1041 kills and 825 digs at Jefferson City High School. Maassen also qualified for the USA Volleyball Girls 18s Junior National Championship with her club team.
- Delaney Miller is a 6'0 middle blocker from Buffalo, Mo. The First Team All-District honoree recorded 4.3 kills per set and a .356 hitting percentage during her senior campaign. She also qualified for the State Championship in high jump three years in a row.
- Aliciyanna Mixson is a 5'9 middle blocker from Woodbury, Minn. Mixson served as a captain during her senior campaign at Woodbury High School and played club volleyball with the prestigious Northern Lights club.
- Jessica Mowry is a 5'6 defensive specialist from Arnold, Mo. Mowry helped Lutheran South High School secure back-to-back appearances at the Missouri Class III State Tournament. She collected 609 digs during her senior season while earning Second Team All-District honors.
- Genna Nickelson is a 5'3 defensive specialist from Pacific, Mo. The First Team All-Conference selection collected 6.25 digs per set during her senior year and led the St. Louis High School area in reception percentage.
- Nicole Trevino is a 5'7 middle blocker from Progreso, Tex. Trevino was recognized as the District MVP during her senior campaign and was a member of the East All-Star team in 2019.
- Miaya Wilmes is a 5'6 outside hitter from O'Fallon, Mo. The Fort Zumwalt High School graduate averaged 3.16 kills per set and 4.28 digs per set in her senior campaign.
- Karli Wolfe is a 5'10 opposite hitter from Camdenton, Mo. Wolfe missed one season due to injury but was a three-year varsity letterwinner and averaged 0.8 blocks per game.
