Fayette, Mo. - The No. 10 Central Methodist University volleyball team posted its third-straight sweep in the last four days, defeating MNU by scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19 Tuesday night inside Puckett Fieldhouse.
The Eagles improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference standings, while the Pioneers fall to 5-3 and 2-1 in Heart action. Central Methodist has now claimed victory over the Pioneers in five consecutive matches dating back to October 2018, and all five of their victories this season have come in straight sets.
Jordan Wolfe posted her first double-digit kill performance of 2020, collecting 13 kills on 21 swings while hitting .524. Annabelle Maassen followed behind with eight kills with one assist and a service ace, while Callie Henson added six kills and a block assist.
The duo of Elise Hardesty-Irvin and Shannon Peters both dished out double-digit assists, as Hardesty-Irvin led the Eagles with 16 followed by Peters with 10. On the defensive side, reigning Heart Freshman of the Year Krystal Brauner compiled 15 digs with four assists. The Eagle defense added five total team blocks, as Wolfe and Grace Stumbaugh each recorded three block assists, while Lici Mixson added two, and Delaney Miller and Henson added one each.
Overall, Central Methodist forced 12 Pioneer errors and held MNU to a .226 hitting percentage. Bonnie Fung, Maassen, Peters, and Hardesty-Irvin all picked up a service ace as well.
CMU will look to push its winning streak to four matches, when they host Evangel University Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Fieldhouse.
