Olathe, Kan. - The Central Methodist University volleyball team fell to conference foe MNU in four sets (28-26, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18), Saturday afternoon in Olathe, Kan.
With the loss, Central falls to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference action. The Pioneers improve to 10-6 and 7-4 in Heart play. The match marks the return of the Eagles to the court for the first time in almost a month, when they last played Missouri Valley College on Sept. 29 in Fayette, Mo.
MNU jumped out in front early, claiming the first two sets before CMU responded by winning set three. However, MNU was able to close out the match with a victory in set four, 25-18.
Grace Stumbaugh led the offense with 15 kills on 28 swings, finishing with a .393 hitting percentage. She also added three block assists and two digs. Delaney Miller and Jordan Wolfe also collected double-digit kills with 11 and 10 respectively.
Elise Hardesty-Irvin dished out a game-high 32 assists, while fellow teammate Shannon Peters recorded 16. Hardesty-Irvin also picked up 12 digs to earn a double-double and Krystal Brauner and Shea Luby collected 13 digs apiece.
The Eagles defense held the Pioneers to a 0.171 hitting percentage overall.
Central continues conference action with a match against Evangel on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
