Sioux City, Iowa – The No. 9 Central Methodist volleyball program is set to start pool play at the NAIA National Volleyball Championship this week in Sioux City, Iowa. The Eagles landed in pool H with along with No. 8 Eastern Oregon and No. 24 Bethel (Ind.). 

The Eagles enter the championship with a 14-6 record, while the Mountaineers are 17-1 and the Pilots are 25-6.

CMU punched their ticket to Sioux City after defeating Cottey College in the opening round in straight sets. So far this season, CMU has played nine games against five ranked teams. Central split matches against No. 19 Ottawa and (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene, defeated No. 14 Grand View, and dropped a game against No. 6 Missouri Baptist and three games against No. 2 Park.

The Eagles are the No. 15 in the NAIA in hitting percentage (0.233) and No. 18 in kills per game (13.29). Senior Grace Stumbaugh is ranked No. 7 in hitting percentage (0.356).

Bethel earned their spot in the final site after defeating Reinhardt, 3-1, in the opening round. The Pilots have faced four ranked opponents during the 20-21 season, falling to No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 25 Aquinas, splitting games with No. 7 Marian and defeating (RV) Reinhardt. BU is ranked first in the NAIA in total blocks (354) and blocks per game (3.05). 

EOU defeated UC-Merced in straight sets in the opening round, booking their ticket to the Final Site. The Mountaineers won four out of five games against ranked opponents this season, defeating (RV) Oregon Tech twice and winning two-of-three against No. 13 Corban. Eastern Oregon is ranked in the top seven in two statistical categories.
