Fayette, Mo. - Despite trailing 2-0 after the opening two sets, the No. 11 Central Methodist volleyball team battled back to claim the next three, earning a gutsy 3-2 match victory over MNU Tuesday night in Puckett Field House (16-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-13).
With the win, CMU improves to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action, while the Pioneers drop ot 5-9 and 0-1 in the Heart.
Four different Eagles reached double-digit kills, led by Callie Henson with 16. Jordan Wolfe followed with 11, while both Annabelle Maassen and Grace Unnvik recorded 10.
Marina Alonso dished out a new career high 34 assists paired with five digs. Avery Hays also collected double-digit assists with 13, while Krystal Brauner and Giulia Sasso led the defensive charge with 21 digs each. Brauner also added three service aces, while Maassen earned a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Delaney Miller, Henson, and Wolfe picked up two block assists each, and Unnvik led the charge with four block assists. Overall, the Central defense held the Pioneers to a .135 attck percentage.
Central travels to Baldwin City, Kan. to take on Baker University Friday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
