Kansas City, Mo. - After finishing conference play with a 16-3 overall record and their fourth-straight trip to the Heart Championship match, the Central Methodist volleyball program garnered seven Heart All-Conference honorees Monday.
In addition to the seven selections, Associate Head Coach Garrett Case was named the Conference Assistant Coach of the Year. Callie Henson, Jordan Wolfe and Krystal Brauner all earned First Team recognition.
Henson is now a three-time all-conference selection after earning First Team honors in 2020 and Third Team recognition in 2019. Henson has appeared in 34 matches for Central, recording 366 kills and 3.08 kills/set. She has tallied 19 double-digit kill performances including a season-high 25 against Dakota Wesleyan on Sept. 3. In conference play, the Jefferson City, Mo. native ranked sixth in the Heart in kills (197), kills/set (3.18) and ninth in hitting percentage (.303). Henson was also named the Heart Attacker of the Week back on Sept. 6.
Brauner becomes a three-time First Team All-Conference selection in 2021. She recorded 613 total digs while appearing in all 35 of Central's matches this season. In 19 Heart matches, Brauner ranks fourth in the conference in service aces (28), fifth in digs (298) and digs/set (4.73). She is also the all-time career record holder in digs with 1,599 in just 94 career matches. Brauner has been named the Heart Defender of the Week three times in 2021 (Sept. 13, Oct. 25, and Nov. 1).
Senior opposite hitter Jordan Wolfe rounds out the First Team All-Conference selections, as the Camdenton, Mo. native was named to the First Team for the second consecutive season. Wolfe has tallied 298 total kills in 2021, averaging 2.44 kills/set and 97 total blocks, ranking her No. 4 in the Heart
The Heart All-Conference Second Team featured two Eagles, as both Annabelle Maassen and Delaney Miller were recognized.
Maassen, the 2021 Heart Freshman of the Year, has earned all-conference honors for the second-straight season, tallying 221 kills and 335 digs through 35 matches. The Jefferson City, Mo. native recorded double-digit kills on seven different occassions including a season-high of 12 against Oklahoma City (Sept. 4) and Missouri Baptist (Sept. 11).
Miller lands on the second team after earning honorable mention all-conference honors in 2020. The freshman middle hitter appeared in 30 matches for Central, tallying 153 kills for a .307 hitting percentage. Miller also recorded 66 total blocks, good enough to finish fourth on the team.
The duo of Sydney Healy and Marina Alonso were recognized as Honorable Mention All-Conference performers for the first time in their careers. In her first year as an Eagle, Healy played appeared in all 35 matches, recording 189 kills, 80 digs and 38 blocks. Alonso, a junior setter from Sao Paulo, led Central with 729 assists. She also tallied 141 digs through 124 sets played. Alonso recorded a career-high 34 assists on two different occassions against both MidAmerica Nazarene (Sept. 14) and Evangel (Oct. 1).
Associate Head Coach Garrett Case was named the Heart Assistant Coach of the Year after helping to lead Central to a 28-7 overall record, a 16-3 mark in Heart Play and their fourth-straight appearance in the Conference Championship match this year.
