Kansas City, Mo. - The Central Methodist volleyball program will make the trip north to Sioux City, Iowa for the 42nd NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, set to take place Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 at the Tyson Events Center.
The Eagles enter the tournament with a 29-7 overall record. This includes a runner-up finish in the Heart Tournament Championship Nov. 13. Central is making its fourth consecutive appearance to the big dance, after defeating Southwestern Assemblies of God in five sets this past Saturday in the Opening Round.
Central has drawn defending NAIA National Champions and No. 3 nationally ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans in Pool C. MBU is making its 13th overall National Championship appearance and eighth straight. They enter the tournament with a 28-2 overall record after having won both the regular-season and tournament championship of the American Midwest Conference. The Eagles fell to the Spartans in four sets on Sept. 11 in St. Louis.
Joining CMU and Missouri Baptist in Pool C is Dordt (Iowa). The Defenders are 18-9 this season and finished their GPAC slate with a 9-7 record, claiming a tie for fifth place in the league race.
Central will begin Pool play against Dordt Tuesday Nov. 30 at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles will then square off against the Spartans Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. At the conclusion of pool play, the top team out of each pool will advance to the single-elimination bracket starting Dec. 2.
